Module 6   Lesson 1   Wu Shu Xue

The Five Shu points, in depth

Why do so many powerful points lie between fingertip and elbow, and how do you choose between the five?

After this lesson you know the movement of Qi along the five points (Ling Shu 1), their classical indications (Nan Jing 68 and Ling Shu 44), the element of each point (Nan Jing 64) with the rules for tonifying and sedating (Nan Jing 69 and 75), the lower He-Sea points of the Fu (Ling Shu 4), and all sixty Shu points with their name and key action. No location, no needling technique.

fingertip or toe: shallow, fast elbow or knee: deep, broad Jing-Well Ying-Spring Shu-Stream Jing-River He-Sea Ling Shu 1 emerges glides pours flows enters Yin channel Wood Fire Earth Metal Water Yang channel Metal Water Wood Fire Earth Nan Jing 68 fullness below the heart Heat in the body heavy body joint pain cough, panting chills, fever rebellious Qi diarrhoea Ling Shu 44 disease of the Zang colour of the face comes and goes the voice Stomach, diet Blood in channel
Own diagram. Verbs after Ling Shu 1, elements after Nan Jing 64, indications after Nan Jing 68 and Ling Shu 44, in our own words; the book discusses them in ch. 50 (p. 829, energetic action from p. 832, the Classics from p. 834). Schematic, not a location guide.
